OVERVIEW
About this project
Stonebridge Academy had one immovable constraint: the school had to open for the September intake. The programme was built backwards from that date, with procurement of long-lead items — roof structure, laboratory fit-out, generators — instructed before substructure works began.
The campus comprises three teaching blocks, a science wing, and a five-hundred-seat assembly hall arranged around a central courtyard. Concrete frames were poured in parallel by two crews working opposite ends of the site, and the assembly hall's long-span steel roof was erected in eleven days.
The school opened on time. Snagging was completed during the first half-term break, and the building has since carried two full academic years without a structural or weatherproofing defect being raised.
